Harman: women opting to be their own boss
Women are voting with their feet and setting up their own businesses to get more flexibility between work and family life, according to a new survey of female entrepreneurs commissioned by Minister for Women and Equality Harriet Harman.
The biggest motivation for going it alone – 70% of those polled – was to be able to work more flexibly, with three quarters (75%) saying work family life balance is better when you run your own business, rather than being an employee.
Women entrepreneurs are overwhelmingly positive about the benefits of being self-employed, with nine in ten (86%) happy to set up their own business all over again.

WAM to launch a new network for disabled business women in Torridge, North Devon, West Devon and South Hams. The successful Women and Micro-enterprise (WAM) project is working in partnership with Enterprise South Devon to launch a new network for women who have a disability who either want to find out about setting up their own business or who would like support to help their existing business to flourish. The network will be launched at a lunch in Okehampton during w/c 10th December. Bank of Scotland re-brands women in business team
The Bank of Scotland Women in Business Team has been re-branded as HBOS Women. Insurance company targets ' phenomenal force' of women business owners MORE TH>N Insurance company has launched a new package specifically aimed at women-owned businesses. A key element of the offer is the option of talking to a dedicated team of female-only business insurance experts.
