Village Halls

County Grant Scheme – Community Buildings/Village Halls

The County grant scheme, is a scheme which provides capital funding to Community Buildings and village halls in Devon.

Each year Devon County Council allocates a sum of money to be given in grants to rural community buildings (i.e. village halls). The Community Council of Devon (CCD) administers this scheme.

District match funding is no longer mandatory but will contribute to the strength of the application. Match funding should make up two thirds of your budget; this should include a contribution from your local community and from your Parish Council.

Grant awards from CCD are now between £1,500 and £20,000. The next deadline is 31st Dec 2010.

If you would like to discuss your application with a member of staff please call CCD on 01392 383443 or email grants@devonrcc.org.uk

It is necessary to plan your project correctly and articulate the future benefits the work will have within the community.  Community consultation and support is a key factor, for further information on developing a project see the information sheets available (link to information sheets).  If any capital works are undertaken within a community building that affect issues of access then an independent access audit needs be undertaken by the village hall.  This will need to be submitted with your funding application.  For more information see the disability access pages below awareness.http://www.dacb.org.uk/Pages/Access_Audits
