Previous CCD Projects
1.Rural Bridges to Learning (RB2L) Sept ’04 – Dec ‘05.
The RB2L project aim was to help people from rural areas in Devon access level 1 or level 2 accredited learning opportunities. RB2L developed community-based Learning Hosts (Learning Champions), who in turn identified and supported local non-traditional learners into gaining learning experience. The project targeted potential learners who are out of full time employment and who either had skills for life requirements or lacked recent learning experience. See CORA for further information
2.Community Outreach in Rural Areas (CORA) July ‘03 – Dec ‘04
The CORA project was set up to help people from rural areas access learning opportunities and overcome barriers to learning.
CORA used existing community networks to develop and support community-based Learning Champions, or ‘Learning Hosts’, who in turn identified and supported local people in accessing learning. 21 Learning Hosts from Devon signed up to the CORA project and they helped over 250 learners attend a range of learning opportunities.

4. Community Activists Network (CAN)- Mch 2006
The aim of the project was to create, over a pilot one-year period, a network of community activists to encourage mentoring, collaboration and sharing of best practice. The project would review existing advice and information services, deliver a series of networking and learning opportunities over the life-time of the project, and develop new support mechanisms to be piloted over the period.
5. Village Transport Research Project - Apr 2006
This project aimed to explore the factors that contributed to effective community transport in two contrasting Devon communities. The proposal was to contrast an urban fringe settlement with good transport solutions with a more remote community with some community transport ideas with the potential for further development. The project took the form of action research, to first assess the level of support for community led transport solutions in each community, then to explore the potential transfer of effective, community led solutions.
