The Way Forward for Devon Playing Fields Association 2008-2013

The findings from the recent DPFA survey of community sport and play provision, has set the context for the ‘Way Forward’ development plan and the actions within it.  The plan outlines key areas for action by which DPFA can support Devon’s rural communities and local playing fields associations to overcome some of the unique challenges they face in the protection and improvement of community sport and play facilities.

Some of the keys issues raised to date include: a general lack of quality provision; maximising the potential of opportunities from development whilst minimising the threat; and the need to support the community-run facilities through advice and training as well as focus on publicly owned facilities.
