Edu for All
Edu for All
The Community Council of Devon is the UK partner for this European Transnational Lifelong Learning Project.
Other partners are from Germany, Hungary, Italy, Finland and Latvia.
The project is funded under the EU Grundtvig Programme with additional match funding from each of the national partners.
The project proposal, as expressed by the German lead partners LEB Thuringen, says:
• Adult Education Centres. .. are especially suited for addressing learners who
- live in urban areas
- are interested in education
- will travel some distance to attend classes.
• Other experiences have however shown that these service-oriented marketing strategies are not sufficient to satisfactorily reach and address the needs of people in rural areas. The same is true for particular target groups that are disadvantaged or socially isolated.
The similarities with the Learning Host concept developed by CCD in Devon is striking. CCD has experience of successfully delivering 6 projects based around the model. Essentially existing community groups of all sorts are recruited to champion the delivery of learning opportunities locally.
The ‘Aims’ of Edu for All include the creation of a Handbook to help engage Community Groups and support them with the delivery of learning opportunities in their communities. Local people deciding what they want to learn, where and when they want to learn.
