Training Opportunities
Training is an important and integral part of the Rural Community Buildings Service. Training is organised on a needs basis. In the past the team have organised training sessions on disability access, food hygiene, Big Lottery Fund – Community Building Programme and the new fire regulations.
We also hold day surgeries a few times a year around the county and invite local village halls to spend a bit time with us discussing issues which you are dealing with. This can be anything from legislation, to trustee liability, to funding to energy efficiency.
Please have a look at our CCD website training pages for current information on training available. [ Link to DRTU Training Page]

An example of Best Practice: South Brent Village Hall in South Hams District has developed a one-day-per-week conference facility as a way of generating income to maintain their village hall, 2005.
As part of the Community Buildings Service a county wide Community Buildings Conference will be held each year in April or May. The first Community Building annual conference for Devon was held at Boniface Centre, Crediton in May 2006 and was attended by over 40 delegates. The next Annual Conference for Community Buildings will be held on Thursaday 3rd April 2008 - venue to be confirmed.
As the training programme is needs driven we need to hear from you about how we can develop our training sessions to your own personal needs. Please contact (davidk@devonrcc.org.uk) or charlotte2@devonrcc.org.uk for any pressing training needs.
In the past, we have also held ‘Best Practice’ days in fundraising and income-generation and will continue to provide this where there is a demand and funding exists.
