Local Authority Funding
- Parish/Town Council
- Section 106 Agreements through the District Council Planning Department in relation to new housing and commercial developments – contact the Planner in charge of the new development
- District Council(grants and loans; current contacts are listed in SW Sports Directory)
- Devon County Council(the Special Projects Office in the Education Department advise on funding and other matters connected with projects involving Education facilities (Tel; 01392 382027); the Economy and Europe Office at the County Council will advise whether there is any possibility of linking in your project with any current European funding scheme (Tel; 01392 382655 - Jasmine Jones)
National Lottery Funding
- Awards for all - Sport England's Small Grants Scheme. Grants from £300 to £10,000 Phone 0845 600 2040 for an application pack and 01460 73491 for advice.
- Sport England South West Regional Office: see South West Sports Directory for officers dealing with other aspects of Sports England funding. Information Officer is Rosemary Johnson on 01460 270406.
Voluntary Sector Organisations

National Playing Fields Association, 25 Ovington Square, London SW 3 1LQ (Tel 0171 584 6445) and NPFA Fields Office at Midlands Sports Centre for the Disabled, Cromwell Lane, Coventry CV4 8AS (Tel 01203 694517) Funding is available mainly to fields owned or part managed by the NPFA, but they do on occasion act as a gateway to other schemes, so contact to confirm the situation.
Foundation for Sports and the Arts: Gratton
- Endicott, Secretary, P O Box 20, Liverpool L13 1HB, Tel 0151 259 5505: emphasis on grass roots sport and participation and enjoyment rather than excellence. Be prepared for a lengthy application process.
- Major trusts connected to specific sports and other charitable trust funding - see CIB leaflet on Sport and Recreation Projects

Special Schemes/Sponsorship
- Sports Match - business sponsorship scheme (contact The Institute of Sports Sponsorship, Sportsmatch Scheme Manager, Francis House, Francis Street, London SW1P 1DE (Tel 0171 828 8771) DPFA has some photocopied leaflets
- Landfill Tax Credit Scheme – the site must have unlimited public access, and be situated within 10 miles of an active landfill site whose operator participates in the scheme.
