Consultation on aspects of the localism bill: 22 March, Bristol

There is a Government consultation meeting in Bristol on the new community rights:

  • Community Right to Challenge
  • Community Right to Buy

Consultation

The Localism Bill sets out the proposed framework of the two rights. The detailed approach will be established through regulation and guidance. To assist in developing the detail the Government are consulting on both rights. The consultation documents were published on 4 February and the consultation will close at 5pm on 3 May. Copies of both consultation documents and response forms are at the bottom of this page.

Additional ways to get involved

Throughout the consultation period the Government will be speaking to a wide range of interested parties about the Community Right to Buy and Community Right to Challenge.

Officers from Department for Communities and Local Government attended the recent national meeting of Rural Community Council Chief Executives at the end of February. Among many suggestions were that communities should be able ascribe the ‘asset of community value’ designation to buildings or land regarding their potential future community use, and not just their current use.
