Membership
Community Council of Devon is a membership organisation and encourages all those who support its work to become members. You can apply to be either a full or a supporting member of the Community Council, unless you/your organisation does not live or work in Devon. Members of Devon Association of Parish Councils, Devon Association of Community Buildings and Devon Playing Fields Association are automatically affiliate members of Community Council of Devon. Fees are kept low and in hardship cases may be waived altogether.
Membership benefits
Supporting and Full Members receive our quarterly magazine Village Green, an invitation to Community Council conferences, training courses and events, use of Community Council library and photocopier at cost by arrangement, and are invited to join the Members' Forum. All members with their own websites can opt to be included in the ‘links page’ of our website.
In addition Full members have voting rights at elections and general meetings, the opportunity to stand for election to the Board of Trustees, and receive a copy of the annual report and accounts. Illustrated annual reviews are also produced for all members.
Full and Supporting members are welcome to join the Members' Forum, which meets quarterly, currently on Monday mornings. This committee has three functions:
- Debating the issues affecting people who live in the communities of rural Devon
- Acting as a sounding board for new Community Council initiatives and programmes
- Influencing policies and programmes which affect rural Devon
Membership Fees
Community Council of Devon's Membership fees are currently £18 for Supporting Members and £30 for Full Members.
