Community Learning

The Community Council of Devon has led work in Devon on developing and testing new ways of engaging non-traditional adult learners in rural areas.
A series of projects have built partnerships between local communities and ‘mainstream’ providers of adult learning services. Good practice learnt from these projects has been showcased nationally.
The Community Council of Devon currently Chairs the Devon Community Learning Partnership, and is a member of the Devon Association of Learning Providers.
Previous Community Council of Devon projects engaging adult learners in rural areas:
• Women on the Up (July 2006 to July 2008) – Supported 11 community-based ‘host’ organisations, and 245 adult learners
• Rural Outreach Learning Initiative (September 006 to March 2008) – Supported 33 host organisations, and 643 adult learners
