Influencing on behalf of Devon's rural communities

Influencing and Policy

At the Community Council of Devon we are always looking for opportunities to influence on behalf of Devon and its communities. This happens in a number of ways.

• We highlight good practice and good ideas through our website, literature and magazines, and through press releases.
• We undertake research on a wide range of issues from community buildings to the position of women to rural deprivation.
• We work with partners to develop and influence strategy. This includes being the accountable body for Devon Consortium, bringing together key bodies in the voluntary sector.
• We have a large membership and an active and diverse Board that also seeks out opportunities to influence.
• We respond to consultation and policy documents at local and national levels.
• We encourage local groups and organisations to respond to consultation opportunities.
• We engage with elected representatives from parish and town councils to MPs and MEPs.
• We produce our own papers to stimulate discussion and debate on issues relevant to the communities we serve.
